Weekly Update!

 Good Afternoon Parents,

What a busy week we have had upon returning from Spring Break. We have so much still left to cover and time is running out. As you saw from my Remind message last Tuesday, the test dates have been set. I will include those below for anyone who is not part of our class Remind messages. Instruction is moving rapidly! I wanted to get this post out to you last Friday, but was waiting on some finalizing information on our Poet’s Tea. Details about this exciting event are below!

SOL Pass

Today I showed your child how to access the released SOL tests. I have given them a tracking sheet and asked them to work on this at home 3 times a week. The direct link to this site is on my Schoology page. Once they complete the practice, please make sure you check their score, note it on the tracking sheet and initial it. This will help assure the students that there is accountability and thus will do their best!

If you haven’t had a chance to view the site, it's quite awesome! Your child has access to all the released tests back to 2001 in some cases. These are a perfect way to prepare for all 3 SOLs. The password to access them is husky. Please make sure you open the website and not attempt to do it while still in Schoology. It doesn’t always work that way. Your child knows how to do this.

No School

Reminder that there is no school on Friday, April 21st due to Eid. Happy Eid to all our Muslim friends!

Book Fair

The book fair is coming!! Our class will preview the book fair on Monday, April 24th. If your child wishes to purchase anything during school hours, they may do so starting the week of April 24th. There will be a family night on Thursday, April 27th from 4-6pm, should you wish to bring the whole family out! Should be a fun event!

  • VA Studies:  We will begin Chapter 7- The Civil War.
