Hello Parents,
This has been a productive and busy week! We kicked off the Boosterthon and wrapped up our Famous American project for Black History Month. The reports look so cute! I cannot wait to share them with you!
Family Life Education (FLE)
Our class is scheduled to have FLE on March 4th and 6th and 8th next week. Then again on Monday, March 11th. If you would like to opt your child out, please make sure to follow the directions on THIS FLE PARENT LETTER and opt out through Parentvue. If it is not noted in Parentvue, your child will receive the FLE lesson.
4th Grade Field Trip:
You may have already received an email notification from SCO (School Cash Online) requesting payment for our field trip in April. Additional information about our field trip came home with students last week. Please read that over carefully and send back the permission form as soon as possible. We will be traveling to George Mason's Gunston Hall and George Washington's Mount Vernon on Tuesday, April 2. The cost per student is $20. It is preferred that payment be submitted through SCO using the link sent to you Thursday morning. If you did not receive that email, please try to access the system using this link: https://lcps.schoolcashonline.com/. If you have been chosen as a chaperone, please send in your payment so I can confirm you will be able to join. If a chaperone cannot join, I will notify the next willing parent. Thank you to so many of you that expressed interest in coming along!
Mileage Club:
Mileage Club will begin the week of April 2nd. It will be on Thursdays from 7:40-7:55 AM for 3rd-5th grade students. Please sign and return the permission form if you would like your child to participate. The forms went home with your child today.
Historical Fiction:
Our next Reading unit will be on Historical Fiction. We will be reading the book Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. This is a story about a young girl in WWII when the Germans begin to invade Denmark. You can buy the book on Amazon if you would like your child to have a copy to follow along as I read.
PJ Day:
You probably have seen that the school has won a PJ day on Tuesday, February 27th for the Boosterthon. If your child wishes to wear PJs that day, they may.
Focus Areas for Next Week:
Writing: We will be learning about Historical Fiction.
Math: We are working on the Patterns, Factors and Multiples unit.
Science: We are learning about Ecosystems, food webs, food chains and how things are interdependent on each other.
VA Studies: We will continue Chapter 5- The American Revolution.
I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend! I will be watching my son play basketball and catching up on things around my house. There never seems to be enough hours in a day!
