Final Weekly Message

Well.

We made it.

178 days.
178 days of learning, laughing, and growing.
178 days of my spending more waking hours with your child than you.
178 days of my learning their quirks, anticipating their actions, and guiding their minds.
178 days of your trusting me to love, honor, and respect your unique, wonderful, creative, amazing child.
178 days of the kids showing up with open hearts and willing spirits, ready to absorb whatever I sent their way.

And so.

We made it.

Running, walking, limping, or crawling...we made it.

In an infinite number of ways, teaching is like parenting.  It's a study in delayed gratification.  On day 1, no one knows how to make a lunch choice.  On day 178, I could leave the classroom for an hour and the place would run like clockwork.  I look at the kids and I can't even believe what YOU and I and THE KIDS have created TOGETHER.  Wow.  Just wow.

Thank you for sharing your child with me.  These kids have been a joy.  This group of bright, funny, engaging, inquisitive, kind, respectful children is taking quite a piece of my heart today.  I like to think some of them are leaving a little piece of theirs too.

Please don't let this be our goodbye.  Feel free to reach out to me at anytime in anyway for any reason.  Check with parents who've had a child in my class in past years. You'll discover these are not empty words.

With Love and Appreciation (and many tears on my keyboard),

Weekly Update

Hi Everyone!

Happy Saturday!  I am so happy to see the sun shining!  We caught up on our outside recess time yesterday and and relaxed with our books too.  We even serenaded the volunteers at our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast this morning.

A few items for next week:

End of Year Party:
Our end of year party will be Thursday at 1:15 pm in our classroom at school.  I hope to see many of you there.  If you haven't signed and returned your child's food permission slip, please kindly do so as soon as possible.  Your child will not be able to eat any food at the party unless you have signed the food permission slip.

Game Day:
Next Friday, June 9th, will be a game day.  I sent a flyer home in yesterday's Homework folder.  Students may bring a board game or card game (NO electronics, please) to play with friends on our last day of school.

Quarter 4 Report Cards:
On Thursday, June 15th, your child's 4th quarter report card will be mailed to you at the address on file in your ParentVue account.

Our schedule next week will be very fluid.  We have some "this and that" items to finish...our plant life cycle projects, our 1st grade memory suitcases, and a secret Father's Day project.  Aside from that, we will continue to clean out our desks and supplies, attend some end-of-year assemblies, celebrate the 5th graders after their Promotion Ceremony, and enjoy some extra time with friends in the sunshine!

Parents...I stink at goodbyes!  I realize I'm purposely avoiding thinking about June 9th.  I'm not ready to say goodbye to the kids. I'm not sure how to stop time, but I'm desperate to figure it out.  If you need me this weekend, I'll be at Costco buying cases of tissues for next week.
